The Team

Director Julius C. Ahiekpor is a senior instructor at the department of chemical engineering of Kumasi polytechnic. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology and currently pursuing masters in Chemical Engineering from the same institution. He is a researcher in the field of renewable energy technologies, environmental and waste management. He is a founding member of CEESD. Email: juliusahiekpor@ceesdghana.org FULL PROFILE	Assistant Director Edward Antwi is a lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Kumasi Polytechnic. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Thermofluids and Energy Systems option). He is presently working on efficient woodfuels cookstoves, the use of biodiesel in vehicles and review of national energy policy. He is a founding member of CEESD. Email: edwardantwi@ceesdghana.org
Coordinator - Environmental projects Mizpah Asase (Miss) is a Ph.D student of the Chemical Engineering Department, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She obtained a BSc. (Hons) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2003. She enrolled as an MPhil/PhD candidate after undergoing her national service in 2004. She has been working in the area of solid waste management for close to 6 years and has experience from undertaking various waste characterization and separation at source projects in Kumasi. She has been a member of the International Solid Waste Association since 2006 till date. Her research interests are in the areas of Development of Local Capacity for separate collection, handling and treatment of solid wastes, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Polymer Technology and recycling and environmental sustainability. Email: mizpaha@yahoo.com	Coordinator - Solar PV projects David Ato Quansah holds a first degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermofluids and Energy Systems, both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi – Ghana. Mr Quansah also holds an advanced degree (Master Specialise) in Energy Engineering from l’Institut international d’Ingénierie de l’Eau et de l’Environnement (2iE) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He is currently a Technical Research Assistant at The Energy Center (TEC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and has additional responsibility for coordinating short courses under a Renewable Energy Education Project (REEP) with support from the EU-ACP EDULINK Programme. His areas of interest are Electricity Storage Batteries for Small Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, Energy Efficiency in buildings and Industry, Economics of Solar Photovoltaic Systems (grid-tied and off-grid), Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies, Policies for dissemination of Renewable Energy Technologies in developing countries.
Coordinator - Bioenergy and CDM Edem C. Bensah had both his MSc. (Mechanical Engineering – Thermofluids and Energy Systems) and his BSc. (Chemical Engineering) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. He is currently a lecturer at the Chemical Engineering Department of Kumasi Polytechnic, Ghana. His research interests are Thermodynamics, bioenergy, biosanitation, integrated solid/liquid waste management, CDM, competency-based training (CBT) curriculum development. He is a founding member of CEESD and has several publications in both local and international journals. Email: edcube353@ceesdghana.org FULL PROFILE	Coordinator - Solar thermal projects Richard Arthur holds an MSc. (Mechanical Engineering – Thermofluids and Energy Systems) and a BSc. (Chemical Engineering) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Energy Systems Engineering, Koforidua Polytechnic, Ghana. His research interests are in the areas of biogas technology, energy conversion and management, CDM proposal development, climate change and sustainable development. He is a founding member of CEESD also a research fellow of The Energy Centre, KNUST. He has been involved in the supervision and construction of a number of biogas plants in the country. Coordinator - Built environment Martin Larbi holds BSc. and Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also holds a Diploma in Project Management from Institute of Commercial Management (ICM-UK). His research interests are in the areas of energy efficient buildings, sustainable integrated development, and climate change. He has been involved in the conceptualization and design of prototype energy efficient buildings in tropical regions. Email: martinlarbi@yahoo.com	Project assistant Rachel Opoku Agyemang holds a Bachelor of Art in Integrated Development Studies with specialization in Economic and Entrepreneurship Studies from the University for Development Studies. She has participated in a number of projects including impact studies of insecticide treated net on malaria prevention, community profiling, and problems and potential identification. Her research interests bothers on the role of microcredit in poverty reduction, gender-sensitive energy delivery, and solid waste disposal and management.
