CEESD has signed a contract with United State Africa Development Foundation, USADF, to kickstart the solar energy project scheduled to be implemented in Ghana. The signing ceremony took place at Faaso Battor in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region of Ghana. Present at the ceremony were the District Chief Executive, the Assemblyman, Chiefs and people of the community. Mr. Julius Ahiekpor signed the document on behalf of CEESD while Mr. Staniel Abotsi signed on behalf of Power Africa.
In his speech, Mr Staniel Abotsi, the field officer of USADF urged CEESD to work hard to ensure the project is successful. Mr. Julius Ahiekpor, the Director of CEESD in his response, pledged on behalf of CEESD to do everything possible to ensure the project becomes a reality within the stipulated time. Mr. Ahiekpor in his statement told the community the project will see installation of solar home systems for households and small businesses, a school and a health centre. He also entreated the community to take full ownership of the project.
The DCE, on his part assured the community, CEESD and USADF that he was going to complete a new community school and health centre so that the community would benefit fully from this project. He thanked the project proponents and the funders for helping bring electricity to the community.
