As part of the Solar Lease Project at Faaso Battor, the Centre for Energy, Environment, and Sustainable Development (CEESD) has commenced installation of solar electricity to a community school within the location. The school, which was recently built by the Government of Ghana, has no source of electricity, as the community is entirely off-grid.
This project is aimed providing lighting in the school for evening studies for pupils to increase learning time to improve performance in exams. It also aimed at providing power for the information and communication technology (ICT) centre to be utilized by the pupils. It is further anticipated that this project would reduce participation of students in social vices while teachers would benefit by having extra evening hours to prepare lesson notes. Additionally, lights would also provide improved security for the facility.
The school is one of six beneficiaries of the project.
